Saffron Summer Fete 2008

In October 2007, a partnership grant of £2,000 was awarded to SCEL by the Saffron Neighbourhood Management Board to part fund the Saffron Fete, to be held on Aylestone Recreation Ground on 16^th August 2008.  The costs to put on the fete included the provision of a stage, PA system and fairground equipment. 

The grant was awarded as the event was organised in partnership with LCC Parks department, the Police, Saffron Arts Forum and lots of other local groups and organisations.

The Saffron Summer Fetes run in 2006 and 2007 were a huge success and grew from a fairly small event to attracting over 40 stalls and over 1000 people at last year’s event.

The plans for the fete in 2008 included a carnival procession at the beginning of the event and an ambitious programme of workshops to work with local residents to create costumes for the carnival procession under the theme of ‘fantasy’.
