To help us see how we are progressing in achieving our key priorities, we track performance every three months to see where effort and resources might need to be concentrated in the future.
Local Area Agreements (LAAs) contain performance measures drawn from the government’s new National Indicator Set. The Leicester Partnership have chosen a basket of measures from this set which best reflect the main areas for improvement in Leicester, with ambitious targets set for each (data for some of these indicators was collected for the first time during 2008/9 with targets only being set for 2009/10).
For those indicators we are able to report on, six are currently on or above target, 28 near to target, with 11 significantly below target. This represent an improvement from the previous period (1st quarter of 2009/10), where 18 measures were well below target.
Of these measures, the following have been highlighted as being at particular risk:
-
NI065 Children becoming the subject of a Child Protection Plan for a second or subsequent time
-
NI120 All-age all cause mortality rate (male and female)
-
NI155i Number of affordable homes (SOCIAL RENTED) delivered
-
NI179a VFM Total net value of on-going cash-releasing gains since 2008-9 (Council)
-
NI179b VFM Total net value of on-going cash-releasing gains since 2008-9 (Partnership)
-
NI193 Percentage of municipal waste land filled
These are areas where we think that if corrective action is not taken, we might be at risk of not achieving our 2011 targets. However, it may be that by the next quarterly report corrective action has been taken and the risks identified have reduced (or indeed new areas of concern may emerge).
