A special day of dance by young performers: Hip-hop to Bollywood, tap to ballet!

Outdoor dance floors with performances throughout the day, along with street artists, in various locations including...

Humberstone Gate - Stage 1

  • 11.00am, 12.27pm, 2.12pm: Sin Cru is a hip hop collective of b-Boys and b-Girls performing break dancing moves to entertain you.
  • 11.10am: ER Crew (Essensual Rejuvenation) present dance and fitness routines.
  • 11.30am: Sandfield Primary School performs traditional Indian high energy dances of raas garba, which involves clapping and using sticks.
  • 11.42am: Addict Dance Company, in Association with Leicester College, now finalists in the Youth Dance England competition, selected from hundreds of regional hopefuls to represent the East Midlands, will be performing their street and urban dance fusion routine "Critical Mass".
  • 11.47am: Inspiration Arts presents Freedom Dance by Beaumont Leys School - musical theatre routines.
  • 11.57am, 12.52pm, 3.38pm: Physical Jerks b-Boy crew - founded and based in the Bristol area, with over 35 years collective experience, now one of Britain's top break-dance crews, comes to Leicester! Their performance include jazz styles with jaw dropping acrobatics and dance routines.
  • 12.17am: Nupur Arts specialise in the old classical dance of Bharat Natyam, on the day they will be performing street and Bollywood dancing.
  • 12.42pm: Kids To Entertain U: A children's theatre group staffed entirely by volunteers, and runs singing, dancing and acting classes for more than 100 children aged between four and 17, will be performing a mixture of modern dance styles, such as street, fun and rock and roll.
  • 1.12pm: 2B Productions will be performing a mix of mellow contemporary lyricals through to high energy commercial dance routines.
  • 1.22pm, 3.28pm: Desi Masti: Recognised as Leicester's Premier Bollywood Dance Academy will perform Bollywood dance routines.
  • 1.42pm: Leicester Vocal Tech: A singing school for complete beginners to the professional, children to adults, will be performing street jazz routines and modern dance. The students performing are aged between 6-17 years old.
  • 1.52pm: Omega Steppers: The first group in Leicester to platform the percussive dance known as 'stepping' or step dancing, where the entire body is used as an instrument to produce complex rhythms and sounds through footsteps, spoken word and hand claps. They have been inspired by recent dance movies like 'Stomp the Yard' and 'Step Up' to develop this art form and encourage others to get involved.
  • 2.02pm, 2.42pm: Stage Coach: The UK's largest part-time theatre school perform modern and jazz dance routines.
  • 2.22pm: Assemble School of Dance perform tap, modern and contemporary dance routines.
  • 2.32pm: Premier Star Cheerleaders, A group of 20 girls performing American style cheerleading, involving gymnastics and stunts.
  • 2.52pm: Studio 79 teaches dance classes to children and adults. There will be three age groups performing pop, street and hip-hop styles of dance.
  • 3.02pm: The Centre for Indian Classical Dance perform South Asian dance.
  • 3.18pm: Larnaca Panayioto – Callme [plastic] Leicester College student Larnaca shows extracts from her choreography celebrating dance forms that are popular within today's youth, including street dancing, musical theatre, contemporary, hip-hop, ballet, jazz and beyond.

Humberstone Gate - Stage 2

  • 11.15am, 2.15pm: Ground Hogs perform 'Sticks & Tricks' - using a wide array of music, hip hop, break dance and gravity defying tricks.
  • 11.30am, 2.30pm: Ground Hogs workshop. To compliment their earlier performance (11.30am families welcome, 2.30pm youth focused).
  • 12.15pm, 3.15pm: Levantes Dance Theatre perform using outrageous costumes, theatrical props and audience interaction, great for children and families.
  • 12.30pm, 3.30pm: Levantes Dance Theatre workshop to compliment their earlier performance (all welcome).
  • 1.15pm: The Addict Dance Company in association with Leicester College, now finalists in the Youth Dance England competition, will be performing their street and urban dance fusion routine "Critical Mass".
  • 1.30pm: Gareth Chown, assisted by his company Addict Dance, invite you to a workshop to compliment their earlier performance - all welcome.

Gallowtree Gate

Street artists including...
  • 11.00am, 1.00pm, 2.45pm: Reckless Invention - comedy break dancers: Watch how these two pop, lock, shock and break through Leicester town centre - they're on your turf and they have the freshest moves.
  • 11.30am - 2.00pm: Village Disco: Fancy footwork, competitions with prizes, requests and dedications all come as part of the package. Expect to see people bopping, grooving, jumping n jiving, laughing, smiling and dancing awkwardly, cheek to cheek in circles to the last smoochie number.
  • 11.30am, 1.45pm, 3.15pm: Balloonatics will amaze you with their unique balloon caricature act.
  • 12.00pm, 1.30pm, 3.30pm: Divine Company White Swann Ballerinas on their 10ft tall stilts perform choreographed dance movements.

Town Hall Square

  • 11am - 4pm: Relax in Heart FMs Alfresco area whilst Leicester's Urban music collective 2 Funky Arts presents DJs and urban artists.
